I feel sorry for people who say you can’t control your future.
Sure, it’s true that many factors will influence how your future unfolds, and not all of them are within your control. But the most practical mindset is to believe you are fully in charge of your future.
The moment you start thinking you don’t control it, you’re already, even if subconsciously, giving yourself an excuse for when things don’t turn out the way you want. This mental shift weakens your determination to shape the future you desire.
When I’m in the gym, I picture myself muscular, striving to build that physique. If I let doubts creep in, thinking I might not get there because of my genetics or other uncontrollable factors, my effort would automatically drop, matching the level of my doubt.
That’s why the best approach is always to believe you have complete control over your future.
And if things don’t go as planned, take responsibility. What did I do wrong? What can I do better next time?
I believe I can create my future. If something goes off track, I blame myself, and I figure out what needs to change. Sometimes, that might mean shifting my goals because the original one wasn’t achievable. That’s fine. I’m not set on one specific goal, but I am committed to creating a successful future. I want to be wealthy, impactful, and someone who adds immense value to the world. I’m 100% confident I can make that happen.
Because I own it.
If I fall short, it’s on me to keep improving. I’ll either achieve my vision or die trying.
Do you think Elon Musk wakes up thinking he can’t control his future?
Of course not. If he did, he wouldn’t be pushing humanity toward Mars or building rockets to get us there. There’s no doubt he’s creating that future.
You can create your future too. That’s the mindset of winners. Telling yourself you can’t is the mindset of a loser.
